Objectives
Upon completing this course, participants are expected to:
- Understand the basic concepts of biostratigraphy and chemical stratigraphy,
- Develop skills in stratigraphic correlation using biostratigraphy and chemical stratigraphy.
Content
- Basic concepts of biostratigraphy and chemical stratigraphy.
- Main groups of microfossils (ostracods, foraminifera, nannofossils, palynomorphs), bio-chronostatigraphic zonation.
- Use of organic and inorganic geochemical data for the chemostratigraphic characterization of clastic and carbonate successions.
- Chronostratigraphic refinement to define stratigraphic surfaces for correlation on a regional and detailed scale.
Who should participate
Geologists, geophysicists and engineers working in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
