Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants are expected to:

• Understand sedimentary processes and their results (depositional facies and sedimentary surfaces),
• Recognize facies associations that make up clastic depositional systems,
• Understand the logic of stratal stacking related to regression and transgression,
• Recognize facies associations that make up reservoirs and their heterogeneities.

Content

• Notions of sedimentology, depositional facies and sedimentary processes.
• Depositional systems: alluvial fan, fluvial, aeolian, delta, estuary, coastal, shallow to deep marine.
• Focus on source rocks and reservoirs.

Who should participate

Geologists, geophysicists and engineers who work in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons and other natural resources.
